BT Sport live experience
Enhancing the live experience for millions of sports fans across multiple devices and platforms.

Overview
BT Sport’s mission was to bring fans closer to the action wherever they are. The goal was to continually enhance the live playback experience by introducing new features and improvements, delivering the best possible viewing experience while driving higher viewing figures and stronger user engagement.
My role
I was the lead designer for the BT Sport apps, working closely with product managers, content editors, developers, and marketers to identify and design improvements to the live viewing experience. I led the end-to-end design process, from early concepts and wireframes to high-fidelity designs and interactive prototypes using Figma and Unity. I also planned and coordinated moderated and unmoderated user research, partnering with a research agency to uncover actionable insights that validated design decisions and shaped product direction.
Key outcomes
- •Delivered several award-winning features including Event Timelines, Goal Alerts, Watch Together and Manager Mode, elevating the in-app viewing experience.
- •Increased number of customers watching live content within the apps.
- •Contributed to a rise in Monthly Pass subscriptions.

I led the end-to-end design process, from early concepts and wireframes to high-fidelity designs.

User research and testing was conducted throughout my time at the company using prototypes created with Figma and Unity.

The event timeline enabled viewers to easily find and rewatch key moments from a match.

I created a number of prototypes with Unity exploring potential ways of enhancing the viewing of sport within VR.

Watch Together allowed customers to watch sporting events on their devices with their friends and family, it was released shortly after COVID prevented fans from entering stadiums and pubs.

Manager Mode added augmented info and stats directly into the stream in addition to a live mini map.

During match days, users could use their devices to walk through an AR portal into a 360 degree view from within the stadiums.
